They live in this society where they pick two people, boy or girl, every year from each district to try and survive in the Hunger Games. The novel follows a girl named Katniss Everdeen who goes through almost dying just for her family. The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins I definitely recommend this book to others! I sped through it, eager to learn more about Cass’s biological mother. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a beautiful and emotional story about a family. In the letters, we learn why Cass’s mother chose to give her up for adoption, and how hard it was choosing to give Cass up, so she could have a better life.

We also get to learn about Cass’s birth mother, through a series of letters that she wrote to Cass which would be delivered to her on her 18th birthday. We got to learn about Cass’s life, she is a theater nerd and has a very strong connection with her friends. However, she is still curious about her birth mother and wants to learn more about her. Even though they aren’t her “real” parents, the author makes it clear how close their bond is. Cass is a teen who is living a wonderful life with her adoptive parents. The How and the Why is told from a dual point of view, between Cass, the protagonist, and her birth mother at the age of sixteen right before she gives Cass up for adoption.
The How and the Why, written by Cynthia Hand I think you would really like this book if you like drama, suspense and hilarious genres. It had so many elements to it, and always made me want to read more. I really liked this realistic fiction novel.

In spite of being a young adult book, this was extremely dark, obsessive, and addictive to read. The need to control and be with each other 24/7 was just crazy. Remy and Elise have a friendship like no other, as a result of their dependence on each other, their relationship becomes obsessive. I really enjoyed this book, the character development only got stronger throughout, and the ending was thrilling. Was it self-defense? Or did she have some other motive? The story is told in an alternating timeline, between the past and present, as Remy is sorting through her memories trying to figure out why Elise pulled the trigger. When her boyfriend is shot and killed by Elise, started to rethink her friendship. The Best Lies follows Remy, a seventeen-year-old girl, who lives life to the fullest with their best friend Elise until she experiences some life-altering events, which leave her confused and concerned for her friendship.
